Asthma & Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

COPDs are long term lung conditions which are characterised by shortness of breath such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and are often triggered after exposure to irritants such as dust and fumes.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer results from damage to genes in lung cells. This damage allows abnormal cells to grow and divide uncontrollably and eventually, spread throughout the body.

Occupational Lung Disease

Occupational lung diseases are a group of illnesses that are caused by either repeated, extended exposure or a single, severe exposure to irritating or toxic substances that leads to acute or chronic respiratory ailments.

Interstitial Lung Disease

This describes any condition that affects lung tissue and not the windpipes. Typically interstitial lung disease causes the walls of the air sacs in the lung and the lung tissue to become inflamed.

Chronic Cough

If you have had a cough that lasts 8 weeks or longer, then you have chronic cough and should make an appointment for further testing. This is often a sign of something more serious. View common causes.

Sleep Disorders

Sleep disorders involve any difficulties relating to sleeping, including difficulties falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at inappropriate times, excessive total sleep time, or abnormal behaviours associated with sleep.

Dr Thompson has extensive experience producing medico-legal reports for occupational asthma, work-related exposure and respiratory/breathing problems, COPD, lung fibrosis, motor vehicle related injury/trauma and asbestos-related lung disease.
